Pathway Description: The Comet Compass(Counseling for Opportunities, Motivation, Planning, Achievement & Student Success). The Comet Compass is Mason High School’s comprehensive counseling pathway designed to guide students through a purposeful, student-centered journey from freshman year to graduation.
This initiative focuses on helping students explore opportunities, build motivation, develop intentional plans, achieve academic and personal goals, and prepare for post-secondary success.
A key component of The Comet Compass is the strategic use of Journey Days to strengthen the counseling program. During these times, counselors will engage with external partners—including other high-performing high schools, colleges, and universities—to collaborate, observe, and learn best practices. These experiences will allow the department to continuously refine programming, enhance student support systems, and ensure Mason remains aligned with innovative, research-based approaches in school counseling.
Through planning, collaboration, and continuous improvement, The Comet Compass aims to elevate the student experience and ensure every Mason student graduates with a clear direction and the skills needed for future success.
